#1 – Pro Vocal Booth & Production Room For Cheap

DUBturbo presents: (Step By Step Instructions & Pics Below ) How to build your own sound booth and recording room for cheap. See step by step pics at: forums.nichechoppers.com This is a personal journal video as I convert two rooms in our new unit into acoustically treated recording and production rooms with a sound booth conversion in the closet. Soundtrack from: www.artofbeats.com Things you’ll need *Acoustical Foam – I used ebay – foamfactory – cost? 0 USD – which was enough to fill two rooms at 15×20, and two closets at 3×5 (we way overestimated but it’s better to have leftovers than have to re-order just a few pieces or run out before you finish your application). Get a consultation for your room from an acoustical pro so you know what thickness, size, texture, and type of foam is best suited for your needs. Get the spray glue your foam provider recommends or sells in-house. *Paint & all accessories – Get Latex or eggshell, NOT shiny/glossy. *Nails – if some of your foam starts to fall/peal/come off over time, use tiny 3/4″ nails to nail them into the wall without damaging the foam, and so you can hide the nail easily within the foam once it’s nailed into the wall. *Sheets: To treat your ceiling, you’ll want to hang sheets from the ceiling to the wall leaving a bow/bend in the middle, this is to dampen the noise an reflection from your ceiling. Feel free to add a few foam blocks to the ceiling as well. You’ll want to hang 2 sheets, going horizontally from where

    @qewconite Minium Rockwool…Really. So i can grow weed on my walls and have a sound booth in the same room.. How awesome. And since it needs to be a 10 x 10 i can do it legally in Humboldt. What a WIN!!!

  2. HudsoniteProductions says:

    when you bought your foam did you have to pay cross boarder duty fees and if so how much? thx!

  3. highmilescreator says:

    Beautiful view, dude! Congratulations on the appartment! :) )))

    @qewconite Yo, I got about a dozen sheets of mineral wool left over from previous construction in my house. I was just curious: is it really toxic? I`m planning on wrapping the things in fabric and use plywood sheets of according sizes to make sound absorption panels. Maybe this setup on the whole is going to decrease the toxicity, cuz that`s the only thing that bothers me about this whole business. Any info, anyone?

    Your Great Brother … May The Lord Bless you man … i am gona build one too someday … and when i do i will come to you for some tips later on :D i sub you peas sub me back bro … you gona put up some beats ?

  9. SuperVillaingroup says:

    @qewconite Foam will work for a vocal booth and high reflections, but to treat your room you should really have rockwool or OC 703-705 for bass trapping,,,,good foam will work for early reflection points! And a BIG +100 to NOT using a closet as a booth, it will sound JUST LIKE a closet, very boxy!

  10. MetalWardStudio says:

    Acoustic foam works for some natural slap back reverb but nothing else… You need some corner blocks in the low corners and some Triangle Bass Traps in the Top Corners point side down…. and a few treble traps on the wall… will take care of ya… a nice rug wouldn’t hurt to throw on the floor…. noone likes to hear the singer tapping his foot.. lol

  11. DjBeowolf88 says:

    tbh the sound aint that good in these booth… u need bigger sound panels to take out the bassy hz.. it really sound reverby in the room still….

  12. TERRANCIO says:

    At 9:32 when he started making that “beat”… well, too much treatment for that kind of music, no need… so i wrote this comment and im off to other videos…
    btw, doing a beat with your mouth, even if you think its a Bass drum sound, it is not, so the lowest frequencies are not present, no way you can say “no need” for bass traps, that foam all that absorbs its hi and mid, ONLY… thank God you are trained, lol

  13. scotedavis says:

    Do you have any vocal recordings posted from your studio ?

  14. RHemZProduction says:

    dam brother, nice studio. and you done some amazing stuff bro. can you please subscribe back thanks

  15. DubTurboBeats says:

    @tonganbreed

    No reading involved at all, I did try to script it in my head a lil’ bit but once I started going it was a few all nighters and just being random with the cam. Maybe the glue got to me :P

  16. DubTurboBeats says:

    @qewconite

    All depends fam – you can get cracking quality in many scenarios. Don’t just look at ‘footage’ available. Consider the actual treatment, elements in/out of the room, the fact that this is a booth WITHIN a bigger booth (the treated room), I can record with the door open, take bits of the foam out, add more blankets/wood/dampeners… It’s all about being creative not just following defaults. Mics vary, booths vary, treatments vary, be creative and you can achieve unreal quality.

  17. DubTurboBeats says:

    @kking818

    lol no – just under $1,000 :)

  18. qewconite says:

    Acoustic foam is very little value for your money.
    Rockwool is waaay better value for your money. The money you wont blow on the foam you can spend on a better mic interface etc.
    NEVER BUILD A VOCAL BOOTH IN A CLOSETH! the minimum size for a vocal booth is 3.5 x 3.5 meter. And with this size you need to install HUGE basstraps. Otherwise your booth will only filter out the high frequenties and youll be left with a bassy duf voice. Bigger vocal booths filter the frequenties more equal.

  20. tonganbreed says:

    this guy did a good job but its kind of funny cz if u listen,it sounds like hes reading what hes saying lol..awesome job though! God bless!

  21. kking818 says:

    Did he say $100,000 bucks without paying top dollar? WTF?

  22. DubTurboBeats says:

    @ProgressiveBeats502

    For this application yeah we simply got a very long 1/4″ extension and drilled a hole into the door so we can feed wires through with it closed. Then simply insulate or double up on foam inside the hole and on the outside. The same goes for the wires for the mics, for the light, and now for the screen + keyboard/mouse extensions that are coming so I can be in the booth and record and play with the DAW all without having to leave the booth or have a sound man.

  23. ProgressiveBeats502 says:

    hey i have a really important question how did you put your headphones in the booth like is it wireless or did you buy a really long cord then run it threw the ground ?

  24. zaigex says:

    you still need bass traps

  25. elijahlucian says:

    pretty boomy

  26. xNJSN1P3Rx says:

    @KidMazz2599 havent you read the uploader comments, ur fucking retarded, he imported his own beats.

  27. KidMazz2599 says:

    @GeneralBeatZ
    lmfao it probably was, because these samples aren’t on the dubturbo software… lmao i have it and i haven’t heard these at all

  28. JDKeens says:

    I bought it and it’s not just $29. After you buy it they say if you want to sell your beats then it’s $29 more dollers for a commercial license, then after your fined paying for the license, then they want you to buy samples and beats for so much a month debted to your accout each month.

    Disappointed in their deceiptive price and all the fake reviews on the internet.

  29. DylanT512 says:

  50. LieutendantDan says:

    Hell yeah this is what I need, I’m my friends producer and while we’re ready to record, I still haven’t made a beat! FL Studio 9 was just too complicated to put my beats from my head to the actual program. I know what beats I want, but I just need a simple program that has everything there for you. Hopefully this is it!
